Opuntia (Nopales) Cactus Powder

Opuntia cactus (nopales) is an excellent food for reptiles. Its high in fiber and calcium and low in phosphorous. However quality cactus pads are available in limited quantities. The powder has all the nutrition of the pads minus the water (pads are 94% water). The powder is used like calcium supplements....light sprinkled on the food 3 times a week.

As you can see from the following chart, the pads are 90% water. The powder is around 5% water. So 1/2 pound of powder = about 5 pounds of pads

Cactus is a great source of calcium. It has more calcium than milk
Milk .113% and cactus .164%
